Artists Alley FAQ
How do I register?
Download this application ( RTF ), and send it to artshow@animenext.org. Included on this form must be information on what you're planning to sell. This will be reviewed by the Art Show staff, and once you're accepted you will be sent a link to pay for your table. Please do NOT share this link with others; anyone who attempts to bypass the application will be automatically rejected, and their table purchase will be refunded.
When your application is accepted you will receive an e-mail with the links to purchase your table(s). The registration-included and the table-only options will be clearly marked.
Please make sure your e-mail service is set to allow e-mails from animenextartshow@gmail.com so that our responses to you arrive properly.
What size are the AnimeNEXT Artists' Alley tables? Can I hang things behind them?
Our Artists' Alley tables are approximately 6-foot x 3-foot. Some have wall space behind them; others have curtains; others are free-standing. We allow hangings on walls and curtains provided they do not interfere with the layout of the room. However, all final decisions regarding what can or cannot be hung are at the discretion of the Artists' Alley and the MEC staff. If you're unsure, please contact the Artists Alley Coordinator at artshow@animenext.org.
Do Artists' Alley tables have access to electrical outlets?
Electricity requests are accepted but we cannot guarantee access to an outlet. Since Artists' Alley offers electricity as a convenience and does not charge for it, our access is limited.
What can I sell at my table?
Our artists have brought a surprising variety of items in the past—paintings, prints, traditional media, sculptures, cosplay items, stuffed animals, and more. Our primary concern is that your items are not in conflict with anything being sold in the Dealers Room. Please do not bring anything you did not physically make yourself—you are not allowed to sell commercially produced toys, or resell imported items from Japan.
With regards to published items such as art books or doujinshi, we ask that you not bring anything that has been commercially published by a third-party. Items that have been self-published using a print-on-demand service, where you have personally paid to have them made up, are generally accepted.
If you are uncertain about something you would like to sell, or would like more specific clarifications, please note it on your application. In addition you can contact us at artshow@animenext.org with these questions.
Can I sell food?
No food can be sold at Artists' Alley tables.
If I want a second table at the convention can I buy one then?
Please purchase the full number of tables you will need when you register for the Artists' Alley. We do not have the ability to add tables at the convention. If it turns out that we have unsold tables or no-shows in the Alley we may be able to accommodate some requests for an additional table, but you should not rely on that.
I have friends in the Artists' Alley—can my table be next to theirs?
Group seating requests are accepted but must be made well in advance of the show. Please note that if you ask to be seated near other artists, we will be much less likely to accommodate other special requests such as electricity.
Will artists have time to set up their tables before the convention opens?
Artists will be allowed into the Alley before we open to the public in order to set up their tables. On Friday, we are open to Alley members at 10:30 am, and to the public at 12 pm; on Saturday and Sunday, set up begins at 9 am, and we open to the public at 10 am.
Will we have time to break down tables at night, or can they be left as-is?
We request that all artists pack up and leave the Artists' Alley area as soon as possible once we close for the evening. Although we do close off the room once everyone leaves, AnimeNEXT is not responsible for any thefts or damages that occur, so anything you choose to leave overnight is at your own risk. We highly recommend that valuable items be removed after we close.
If I am not coming for the whole weekend can I still get a table?
Tables are sold on a weekend basis, not per day. If you are only attending for one day, we request that you not take an Artists' Alley table--we don't want empty tables in the room.
There are several of us friends who are planning to share a table--is this all right?
While we don't regulate the number of people per table, be advised that with each table we only provide two chairs. You may not take chairs from other tables--after all, those people need to sit, too! If you think you have too many people to sit comfortably at one approximately 6-foot x 3-foot) table, please consider buying a second table.
Also, if someone other than the registered owner of the table will be using it while you're at con events, please mention it to the staff and introduce them. We will remove anyone sitting at a table that they don't seem to be associated with.
If I have an Artists' Alley table, can I also place work in the Art Show?
Yes. Artists' Alley members do not have to pay the $10 registration fee for the Show. You will need to fill out the control sheet and bid sheet forms. If you are interested, please speak to the Artists' Alley staff or send your questions to artshow@animenext.org.
I'm all fired up! Where do I sign up again?
You can download this form ( RTF ), and send it to artshow@animenext.org.
We look forward to seeing your work this year!
